Modern Arnis

Modern Arnis is a blend of several Filipino Fighting Styles and Systems.

Yantok, the Art of the Single Cane, is the first step to mastering Modern Arnis.

Pagsawali, is the Art of the Double Cane. Blends strikes and blocks with two canes simultaneously.

Anyo, the Art of Forms. By practicing forms, one masters fundamental stances and movements for combat.

Palo-Palo, the Art of Strikes, such as Sipa, (Kicks) and Kamao, (Fists). Applying the principles of weapons training with the empty hands.

Tindig, the Art of Stances and Throws. Learning the ability to hold your position in a fight and manipulating your attackers position.

Talas-Talim, the Art of Blade Fighting. Sword and Dagger training is fundamental to mastering Modern Arnis.

Tapi-Tapi, the Art of Parrying and Sparring, Practicing the advanced drills in Free-style Sparring prepares one for full contact and full speed fighting.

Modern Arnis was founded by Grandmaster Remy Amador Presas in 1957, Bacalod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines. Grandmaster’s son, Mataas na Guro Dr. Remy P. Presas, continues the Family legacy left by his Father.

MARPPIO is the Family organization which promotes and propagates Modern Arnis to the next generation of Modern Arnisadors.

Sterling Modern Arnis Club is a proud member of MARPPIO and humbly contributes to spreading the most revered Filipino Martial Art of Modern Arnis.
